PREGNANCY THROUGH A PANDEMIC

In 2020 and 2021, pregnant women missed out on the support, connection, and celebration normally surrounding this major life milestone. Some women found peace during these quieter times of staying home and avoiding social gatherings, while some struggled in many ways. Some experienced medical complications, infertility, and loss.

We teamed up with Faye Smith Agency to put together a special photo shoot for five amazing women, to illustrate pregnancy during this time and to help them feel empowered and as beautiful as they are.

We want them to know we SEE them, we HEAR them, and we CELEBRATE them.

“I am mourning the fact that this should be the happiest time of my life, yet I am left feeling detached, isolated, and alone. The guilt I feel for not feeling fulfilled by this gift of motherhood is overwhelming.”

“Many of these exciting moments we won’t get to have again. Many of my family or friends have never seen me pregnant. It’s a weird feeling that the next time they will see me, I may well have a child.”

“Navigating my second pregnancy in a social cocoon was for me the therapy I never knew I needed. The break from social expectations gave me space to focus on the relationships closest to me, and to prioritize my life and family goals.”

“One of my twins had Cystic Hygroma, our baby girl was very sick and had zero percent chance of surviving. Heartbroken and overwhelmed we had to make a very tough decision and say goodbye to our little girl at 13 weeks.”

“Its as if the pre-covid hum drum of ‘regular’ life was a long term white noise that’s been suddenly replaced by true tranquil quiet, a quiet that offers healing time to self-reflect and bond with family.”

— Nicola

“I burst into tears out of excitement but also disappointment because my husband wasn’t there to get to enjoy this special moment with me.”

— Krystal

“I am mourning the loss of mom groups and prenatal classes, and building those connections that surely would have lasted for years to come. I am mourning the loss of being able to hire a doula, as I am only allowed to have one support person in the room.”

— Colleen

“It still feels like life is just one big groundhog day and the only thing reminding me that time is moving forward is my belly getting bigger and heavier”.

— Kerri
